I got this tattoo idea from a quote by Pittacus Lore. The full quote is “When you have lost hope you have lost everything. But when all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope” This quote has come to mean a lot to me, because it helps me remember to never give up on the things I want, and to keep striving for my dreams. I had the artist incorporate a subtle infinite sign as well. It was done at Tattoo Planet, in Arizona, by Joey Luck. This was my first tattoo, I felt really comfortable with him and it helped me out a lot. Overall I’m completely happy with my first tattoo experience and my tattoo.

Always See Your Face

There’s nothing worse than falling for somebody and not being able to do anything about it. There isn’t. There’s that horrible thing where you look at them and your mind does that thing that happens after either a really good hallucinogen or really bad fish – your mind shoots off to an wholly different place than the present and you start thinking about the future or some alternate plateau of existence. Whatever that might be. And it’s all speculation and fantasy but you kind of want to live there; to stay there for a while; because it’s easier there. You can control it. Which is why we love the characters that we do. Don Draper will always be more confident than I am. So will James Bond. We get to lose ourselves for a few hours a week in these hyperbolic extensions of what we want to see in ourselves. That’s why we like the characters we do. We see in them what resonates in us.

And so you’re sitting there with the girl and you’re still resonating inside with this version of yourself, I guess, caught with one foot in reality and the other out there in the unreal valley, where Not Really You is telling Not Really Her all of the things you really want to say. And you can’t. You just sit there and hold your tongue, and try and think of a way to convert the currency in your head to something she might understand.
